FAQs

Can N360X and N670X read 1D & 2D codes?

Yes, both engines come with a complete library of all standard 1D & 2D barcodes. You can download their corresponding datasheet for further information.

Does Honeywell offer other functionalities beyond barcodes?

Yes, Honeywell helps customers to support functions beyond barcodes: Honeywell provides Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Direct Part Marking (DPM), Data Parsing (e.g. Driving License Parsing). These features are optional, please contact your Honeywell representative or contact us via the web form for further information

What is the benefit of using a mega pixel sensor in N670X and N360X scan engines?

Honeywell uses newer generation of one mega pixel sensor to offer longer read range, reading of higher resolution barcodes (down to 3mils on 1D C39) and enabling higher resolution image processing. More particularly, these sensors support higher performance on beyond barcode functions such as OCR or DPM.

What are the key differences between N670X and N360X?

While both engines are very compact and electrically compatible, N670X is more adapted to applications requiring higher motion tolerance (transport and logistics, warehouse, deliveries, inventory checks, parts pick-up) while N360X is more suitable for customer-facing or transactional applications (commercial transactions, mobile payment, field service). You could choose to integrate both engines into your solutions to match your exact customer needs. N670X is also equipped for more extreme operational temperature ranges and could be used in a wider range of outdoor applications.

When shall I use laser aiming and LED aiming systems?

Both engines will come soon with the two aiming systems – laser and LED. Honeywell laser aimer is more adapted to applications where barcodes are close to each other and in dark or bright light environments, where the laser aimer is more visible than the LED aimer. LED aimer is usually preferred for customer facing applications and in healthcare.

Are N360X and N670X compatible with each other and with N660X?

Honeywell made it a priority to ensure that these three engine families – N660X, N670X and N360X - use the same pin-out and interfaces so that customers can integrate them more easily and faster into their mobile devices.

Do N670X and N360X run with low power consumption?

Both engines have been designed with low power consumption in mind to allow battery life for mobility devices to be extended as much as possible. Typical power consumption has been dramatically reduced from the previous generation: N6703 (laser aimer) typically draws 205mA @ 3.3V while N3601 (LED aimer) is at 170mA.

Can N360X and N670X work on Android?

Yes, Honeywell made it a priority and offers full support to help you embed N360X and N670X software platform to your Android based environment.

Are N670X and N360X available with MIPI interface?

Yes, both are available with MIPI or Parallel interfaces. MIPI is getting more and more popular as the newer processors offer MIPI.

Does Honeywell offer technical support for N670X and N360X integration?

Honeywell provides both global and regional technical support dedicated teams to help our customers enable N360X and N670X into their devices.

Can the N360X and N670X Series read DotCode required by the new Tobacco Product Directive (TPD) in Europe?

Yes, Honeywell developed software to read DotCode and offers it in its new software decoding package.

As this DotCode can be printed down to high resolution, Honeywell recommends the N6703HD (High Density) 2D Imager for reading DotCode on tobacco products.
