In an effort to continue providing our customers with leading-edge sensor technology,
in May 2009 we upgraded the ASDX Series silicon pressure portfolio with 1 and 5 psi low pressure sensors. In
September 2009 we upgraded the portfolio with ultra-low pressure ranges that included 0 to 10 inches
H2O gage, ±10 inches H2O differential, and ±5 inches H2O differential. Now
we are announcing another upgrade to the ASDX Series that includes 15, 30, and 100 psi low pressure
ranges.
As with the 1 and 5 psi low pressure sensors and the ultra-low pressure sensors, the
new 15, 30, and 100 psi low pressure sensors incorporate ASIC technology for a fast response, an SPI digital
output option, and a 3.3 V power supply.
This upgrade now gives Honeywell an ASDX Series product portfolio that includes the
following pressure ranges:
| |
• |
Low Pressure Products: 1 to 100 psi |
| |
• |
Ultra-Low Pressure Products: 0 to 10 in H2O gage, ±10 in
H2O differential, ±5 in H2O differential |
OUTPUT OPTIONS
| |
• |
Analog: Ratiometric 12-bit analog output for reading pressure over the specified
full scale pressure span and temperature range, allowing for fast and easy integration into standard
electronic circuits. |
| |
• |
Digital: 12-bit I2C or SPI digital interface for reading pressure
over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature range, minimizing connections and providing
higher resolution and faster performance through reduced conversion requirements and the convenience of
direct interface to the microprocessors and microcontrollers. |
The ASDX Series is designed to provide digital correction of sensor offset,
sensitivity, temperature coefficients, and non-linearity. These sensors are intended for use with
non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids such as air and dry gases. The ASDX Series’ footprint is slightly
larger than Honeywell’s SDX, but includes additional signal conditioning integrated within the product. This
allows the customer to remove the components associated with signal conditioning from their PC board to free
space and reduce costs normally associated with those components (e.g., acquisition, inventory, assembly).
Incorporating this capability within the sensor also eliminates many potential problems that could arise from
having multiple components for signal conditioning spread across a circuit board.
The new ASDX Series provides value for our customers by:
| |
• |
Application flexibility: output options of ratiometric 12-bit analog, or 12-bit
I2C or SPI digital; supply voltage of 3.3 or 5.0 Vdc; standard calibrations include inches
H2O, cm H2O, psi, mbar, bar, kPa; pressure types: absolute, differential, gage |
| |
• |
Reliable: provides enhanced quality and reliability in many demanding
operations |
| |
• |
Accurate and stable: provides accurate pressure monitoring and enhanced
stability over time |
| |
• |
Efficient: signal conditioned analog output allows for fast and easy integration
into standard electronic circuits; the digital interface option allows for the convenience of direct
interface to the microprocessors or microcontrollers |
| |
• |
Sensitive: achieves tight total error band, providing enhanced sensitivity and
accuracy even at ultra-low pressure ranges |
