Honeywell has expanded its Hall-effect sensor portfolio with the new SS311PT and
SS411P Bipolar Hall-Effect Digital Position Sensors with Pull-Up Resistor. These devices differ from
Honeywell’s existing digital Hall-effect sensors in that the SS311PT and SS411P have a built-in pull-up
resistor and a low 2.7 Vdc voltage capability—the lowest rating in Honeywell’s digital portfolio.
Additionally, these products join the recently introduced SS30AT, SS361RT, SS461R, SS340RT, and SS440R Series
digital Hall-effect sensors that consist of a downsized integrated circuit, resulting in lower costs for
customers.
These cost-effective bipolar sensors are designed to operate in simple, high-volume,
cost-sensitive, rotary sensing applications. They are small, versatile digital Hall-effect devices that are
operated by the magnetic field from a permanent magnet or an electromagnet, designed to respond to
alternating North and South poles.
SS311PT: Subminiature SOT-23 surface mount package size; supplied on tape and reel
(3000 units per reel)
SS411P: Small leaded, flat TO-92-style package; available in bulk package (1000 units per bag)
The new SS311PT and SS411P provide value for our customers by:
| |
• |
Price competitive: Honeywell has downsized the integrated circuit, saving on
manufacturing costs while still meeting customer requirements; these savings result in lower costs for
customers |
| |
• |
Reduce total system cost: Built-in pull-up resistor eliminates the customer
having to purchase an external pull-up resistor for many applications, reducing total system cost |
| |
• |
Reduce power consumption: Low 2.7 Vdc voltage capability—the lowest in
Honeywell’s digital Hall-effect sensor portfolio—often helps reduce the sensor’s total power consumption |
| |
• |
Economical: SS311PT is supplied on tape and reel, often allowing for automated,
lower-cost pick and place assembly which can help the customer reduce manufacturing costs |
| |
• |
Subminiature size: SS311PT’s subminiature package size requires less printed
circuit board space, allowing for use in smaller assemblies |
| |
• |
Flexible: 2.7 Vdc to 7 Vdc supply voltage range allows for use in low voltage
applications |
