Tideland Signal Corporation of Houston, Texas builds marine navigation aids for offshore, coastal,
waterway and harbor applications. The Suez Canal traffic guidance systems use their channel lanterns in a
series of gates through which all canal traffic are guided. Twenty-five Honeywell MICRO SWITCH Series 2
lighted pushbuttons are used in each control tower.

For the second consecutive year, Honeywell MICRO SWITCH has been awarded Whirlpool’s Quality Assurance
Supplier Certificate of Recognition. Other awards Honeywell has received include the GE Excellence of
Performance and Univac’s Qualified Supplier.
A Honeywell MICRO SWITCH HM switch has survived the 505 million mile journey to Mars aboard the Viking Mars
Lander. The switch is on the retractable surface sampler, which will scoop up Martian soil and deliver it to
the biological laboratory.

A 1942 WWII Hurricane bomber was recovered from a Canadian swamp. The plane has been under water for

meritorious service while serving in Viet Nam.
With no moving parts and operating speeds up to 10,000 cycles per second, the new magnetically operated 1SS4
solid state switching device is introduced.
